PAUL SINHA

Paul Sinha is a familiar face to fans of stand-up comedy and ITV’s quiz show ‘The Chase’. A former doctor of Indian descent and a formidable competitive quizzer, his comedy emerges from his family heritage as well as his abrupt change of careers and delight in the oddball connections between all the trivia that swims around his brain.

Paul is a Rose d’Or Award winner for radio comedy, Chortle Award winner and Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee. He has appeared on Just A Minute, The News Quiz and Fighting Talk on radio and on Would I Lie to You?, QI and Taskmaster on television.

“An utter treat.” Edinburgh Festivals Magazine

“Comedy gold.” The Scotsman

MATT STELLINGWERF

A relative newcomer to the UK, Matt is a slacker comic who remembered to pay attention at school, a super-cool tatooed rocker with a nerdy streak running all the way through him.  Most importantly, he's originally and superbly funny.

"An intellectual ‘Fonze’...extremely laid back and relaxed with the audience, seamlessly having banter and keeping his cool." Keeping Up With NZ

SHALAKA KURUP

Shalaka Kurup is an Indian immigrant and a big fan of living, laughing and loving. She's a doctor by education, a comedian by choice, and a user experience researcher by needing to pay the bills.

Notable experiences include getting a spot at the Comedy Store by beating the King Gong in March 2022 and being selected as part of the Pleasance Reserve for the 2023 Edinburgh Fringe

“Material with bite and naughtiness.” Chortle

AND YOUR RESIDENT HOST:

BEN VAN DER VELDE

One of the quickest wits around and a much-loved compere, he always brings a jam-packed back of nonsense, silliness and wisecracks to every gig he hosts.

"Wonderfully improvised riffs showcasing his impressive spontaneity and sharp tongue." Edinburgh Festivals Magazine

“The perfect comedy club host – he is a master of audience interaction. The audience weren’t just warmed up, but pretty hysterical even before the first act of the night hit the stage.”  Huffington Post

Great last night of a fantastic new comedy festival! Three top acts, perfect mix. I haven’t laughed so much in ages, and certainly not in a church!
